(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is pleased to announce continued federal funding of DDOT's Roadway Operations Patrol (ROP), DDOT's emergency road service.
ROP expedites traffic during highway crashes and offers jump-starts, towing, water, travel directions, tire repair and other quick service.
The Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are for $1 million per year for the next four years. By improving traffic flow with quick, free, on-the-spot help for stranded drivers, ROP significantly decreases congestion on District roads and resulting air pollution. In addition, ROP identifies chronic problem areas for extra attention. ROP works with the Metropolitan Police Department and emergency personnel in responding to roadway incidents.
