(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces the relocation of the School Transit Subsidy office, as of September 30, 2005, to 2217 14th Street, NW, 2nd floor, at 14th Street and Florida Avenue, Washington, DC 20009, (202) 673-1740, 673-1734 (fax); the closest Metro stop is U Street on the Green line. The hours are 8:15 am - 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday and student or parent walk-ins are welcome.
The office provides reduced fares for student travel on Metrorail and Metrobus. Students must be District residents, be less than 19 years old (children with disabilities are eligible until 23), be enrolled in a District elementary or secondary public, private, charter or parochial school and use Metrobus and/or Metrorail for travel to and from school and related educational activities in the District.
A monthly $22 Smart Student Pass allows unlimited Metrobus and Metrorail travel seven days a week. A Metrorail Travel Card allows travel for 65 cents per trip deducted from a $6.50 student farecard.
The old location was at the Reeves Center, 2000 14th Street, 5th floor.
