(Washington, DC) On Sunday, August 28, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will start a two-phase maintenance project that will close ramps to the Mall Tunnel/I-395 at night. The closures will be from 10:30 pm to 5:30 am, Sunday evenings to Friday mornings.
Phase I: Southbound Ramps
The D Street, NW entrance ramp to the Mall Tunnel to I-395 southbound will be closed from August 28 for about three weeks. Motorists may take 3rd Street to D Street, SW to access I-395.
Phase II: Northbound Ramps
The exit ramps from the northbound Mall Tunnel to C and D Streets, NW will be closed starting around September 18 for about three weeks. Motorists may use the Massachusetts Avenue exit ramp to G Street to southbound New Jersey Avenue then to C or D Streets.
The closures are to install a fence and other protective measures.
