(Washington, DC) The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) have released a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed reconstruction of Klingle Road for vehicular and recreational uses. The DEIS considers potential impacts to the natural and manmade environments including land use, air quality, noise, utility services, transportation, cultural, aesthetic, hydrological and biological resources, among other topics.
A public hearing will be held on July 21, 2005, 5:30 to 10 pm at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park Visitor Center, 3001 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20008. The first part of the meeting will be an informational open house from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, followed by public testimony until 10 pm. Comments will be limited to two minutes per speaker.
