(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation's (DDOT) geographic information system (GIS) team won a Special Achievement Award from the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), the largest research and development organization dedicated to GIS. DDOT's GIS user site was one of 150 recognized from a pool of more than 100,000 user sites worldwide. The award is in recognition of outstanding work in the GIS field. Award presentations will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 in San Diego, California.
