DDOT Issues Update on DC Circulator Smithsonian Route
Seasonal Changes on the Horizon

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced today that now that tourist season is over, the DC Circulator bus will see changes to the current schedule on the Smithsonian/National Gallery of Art Loop. This route will operate on Saturday and Sunday only, from 11 am to 6 pm beginning November 4, 2006.

Beginning October 30, 2006, there will be no weekday service on the Smithsonian/National Gallery of Art Loop. Weekday service on the Smithsonian/National Gallery of Art Loop route will resume prior to the beginning of the tourist season—traditionally marked by the kickoff of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

There are no schedule changes for the two other Circulator routes.  The East/West route from Georgetown to Union Station and the North/South route from the Shaw neighborhood down to the Southwest Waterfront will remain unaffected.

About the DC Circulator
The DC Circulator is the product of a unique public/private partnership between the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), and DC Surface Transit, Inc. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) owns the Circulator.

The East/West route provides service from Capitol Hill, at Union Station, west to Georgetown and back, traveling through downtown along K Street, NW. The North/South route, which expanded its service distance in April, reaches Shaw to the north (O Street, NW) and the Southwest Waterfront at its southern end.
