(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will present the final designs for the 18th Street, NW streetscape project at a public meeting on Monday, March 30, 2009. The meeting will be hosted by the Dupont Circle Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) and members of the community will have an opportunity to ask questions about the project.
The reconstruction of 18th Street is one of the projects DDOT plans to fund with stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Construction could begin as early as this summer.
As part of the project, a new water main will be installed and DDOT will completely reconstruct the roadway between Massachusetts and Florida Avenues. In addition, crews will replace the sidewalks, curbs and gutters and install new street lights, traffic signals, tree fences and trash cans.
