(Washington, DC) The following information was provided by the City of Alexandria, which is inviting residents of the Washington area to attend a Community Parking Forum on Wednesday, May 27 from 6 to 8 pm.
The forum will feature guest speaker Dr. Donald Shoup, who has extensively studied parking as a key link between transportation, land use, economic challenges, and the environment. Dr. Shoup will focus on the cost of parking and parking habits in urban areas.
The Community Forum will feature:
- Innovative remedies that balance community and parking needs.
- Discussion about the vital importance of resolving parking issues in the city.
- Discussion about how the city can work with surrounding communities on complex parking issues.
- A question and answer session, which will highlight how the application of Dr. Shoup’s theories could manage parking concerns throughout the city.
