(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host an informational meeting on Thursday, July 30, 2009, to update the public on the major streetscape improvements planned on 18th Street, NW in Adams Morgan. Members of the community are encouraged to attend.
The 18th Street project will include the reconstruction of the roadway, from Florida Avenue to Columbia Road, pedestrian and bicycle safety enhancements, as well as aesthetic improvements including new landscaping and lighting.
The planning process for the project began 6 years ago with significant input from residents, businesses, elected officials and neighborhood organizations, and the goals of the project include:
- Enhancing Adams Morgan’s unique identity
- Improving pedestrian and bicycle access and safety
- Improving the flow and safety of vehicular traffic
- Reducing conflicts between transportation modes

At the meeting, the project engineers will present the latest design plans and solicit feedback and comments from the community.
