The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Urban Forestry Administration (UFA), Casey Trees Endowment Fund, DC GreenWorks and other partners are celebrating Arbor Day at Moten Elementary School in Ward 8. Activities include an awards ceremony for the students, a school clean up, arts and crafts, and the planting of 18 trees.

During the ceremony, UFA will announce the winners of the District’s Arbor Day poster contest. Three winners will be selected from grades four through six. Prizes for those students include Nationals tickets, t-shirts and water bottles.
After the ceremony from 9:30AM until 1:00PM, there will be educational environmental activities including a ceremonial tree planting, arts and crafts and a clean up of the school grounds. Eighteen trees will be planted including cherry trees (2), viburnum (4), oaks (7), and evergreens (5). Additional partners include the DC Department of Public Works, the United States Forest Service, Policy Division, and Americorps.
