DDOT School Transit Subsidy Program Fall Registration to Begin August 18th

WASHINGTON, DC — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin accepting applications for the 2008/2009 School Transit Subsidy Program on Monday, August 18, 2008.

***All students and/or parents must obtain a Student Travel Application from their school and are required to have the Student Travel Application signed, dated and stamped by the school principal before coming to the DDOT office. (Travel Card Applications are no longer given at DDOT’s School Transit Subsidy Office.)***

Bring all completed applications to the following address for processing:

DDOT, Mass Transit Administration
2217 14th Street NW, 2nd Floor
(Near the intersection of U Street and Florida Avenue, NW)
Monday – Friday 8:15 am – 4:45 pm
Wednesdays 8:15 am – 7:00 pm (August-October)

District law mandates that in order for students to receive discounted travel on Metrobus and Metrorail they must meet each of the following four qualifications:

  • Must live at least .5 mile from your school;
  • Must be under 19 years of age with the exception of students with disabilities who are eligible until 22 years of age;
  • Must be a resident of the District; and
  • Must be enrolled in an elementary or secondary public, charter, private or parochial school that is located in the District of Columbia.

If you meet the criteria as listed, please follow the steps above and bring your signed, dated and stamped application to DDOT’s Mass Transit Administration Office. If you have questions or concerns please contact Ms. Nancy Green-Johnson at 202-673-1742.
