High Winds Expected in the District
Residents Reminded to Call 311 for Downed Trees

Media Contact: John Lisle (DDOT) at (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC) The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the District and surrounding jurisdictions, starting at midnight tonight through 6pm tomorrow evening. Sustained winds of 20-30 mph are expected, with gusts up to 50 mph. The District Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry Administration (UFA) will be on call to clear downed trees and debris.

Residents are reminded to call the Mayor’s Call Center at 311 to report any downed trees or branches in public space. UFA does not clear debris from private property.

In addition, residents should secure all outdoor items including patio furniture and prepare for other hazards including utility outages. For power outages in the District, please call PEPCO. PEPCO's emergency number is 1(877) PEPCO-62.
