DDOT Issues a Lane Closure—Benning Road, NE, to Kingman Lake

Contact (Media Only): Beauty Stephens (202) 671-1364

(Washington, DC)  The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces closure of one of the eastbound lanes of traffic on Benning Road, NE, from 22nd Street to Kingman Lane, starting on Monday, October 30, weather permitting. The closure will be in effect from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, weekdays. This closure is needed to allow PEPCO to reconstruct the roadway which was damaged during the recent installation of underground wiring in the neighborhood.

The work will continue until all damage to the curb lanes in this area is repaired. DDOT reports that at times, due to concrete work, it may be necessary to close two lanes of traffic at the intersection of Benning Road and Kingman Lake. This project is expected to be completed by January, 2007.

DDOT will place variable message signs throughout the area to alert motorists of the change in normal traffic flow. Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution when passing through the work zone.
