The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advised today that the Whitehurst Freeway ramp leading to the I-66 East exit will be closed for preventative maintenance and emergency repair starting Friday, March 2, 2007.

Crews will begin work on Friday, March 2, at 7 pm. Construction is scheduled to be completed by 5 am, Monday, March 5, 2007—in time for morning rush hour.

Work includes retrofitting the east abutment bearing and repair of the racks in the east abutment back wall.

The current detour plan for vehicles traveling this route is to proceed east on Whitehurst Freeway, right onto 27th Street, left onto “I” Street and then back to Whitehurst Freeway.

The ramp closure and work is weather permitting.
