(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises motorists, visitors and residents that Benning Road, NE between Anacostia Road, NE and Oklahoma Avenue, NE will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes westbound on March 29, 2007 through April 1, 2007. That section of Benning Road will be reduced to three lanes westbound from April 2, 2007 through April 6, 2007.
The lane restrictions are related to construction work being performed by PEPCO for utility upgrades.
Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone. Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect minor delays and should consider using Metrorail as an alternate means of travel.
Note that the lane closures and the construction work are weather permitting.
