DDOT Announces Canal Road Closed for Road Repaving
Traffic Advisory Issued for Saturday Resurfacing

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC)  Be advised that the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to conduct emergency road resurfacing of Canal Road, NW, between Arizona Avenue and Reservoir Road on Saturday, April 21, 2007 beginning at 7 am.

Work is scheduled to be completed by 7 pm the same day.

In an effort to complete the work efficiently and safely, the road will be closed to all motorists in both directions during this one-day work project. This “get in and get out” approach is more efficient than scheduling several lane closures on subsequent days.

Drivers heading eastbound on Canal Road will be detoured to Macarthur Boulevard at Arizona Avenue. Message board signs, caution signs and safety personnel will be in place to keep all traffic moving safely and smoothly.

DDOT encourages those coming into the District or moving around the District on Saturday to take Metrorail or Metrobus.

For more information, please see District closures, street closures and traffic alerts.
