(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation this weekend will perform striping construction work on Military Road, NW, between Oregon Avenue and Nebraska Avenue. The work comes as a result of extensive community engagement in an effort to reduce congestion.
Date construction/changes will begin:
Construction will begin Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 8 am.
Date construction/changes will be completed:
Double yellow line lane dividers and white lane dividers are anticipated to be completed by morning rush hour Monday, April 23, 2007.
Parking and other markings are anticipated to be complete by evening of Wednesday, April 25, 2007.
Times crews will be working on site:
Saturday, April 21, and Sunday, April 22, 8 am to 6:30 pm.
Monday, April 23, Tuesday, April 24, and Wednesday, April 25, from 9:45 am to 2:30 pm.
Site/scope of work boundaries:
Military Road from Oregon Ave, NW, to Nebraska Ave NW.
Will there be any traffic detours or parking restrictions during construction/changes?
Parking will be restricted on the south side of Military Road between 27th Street and Nebraska Ave NW
Times: Beginning Saturday, April 21 at 8 am to Wednesday, April 25 at 4 pm.
Description of what the final configuration will look/drive like:
- During non-rush hours there will be one travel lane in each direction with a parking lane on both the north side and the south side.
- During the morning rush hours there will be no parking on the north side to allow two lanes for westbound traffic. Parking will be permitted on the south side and the eastbound traffic will use one lane.
- During the evening rush hours there will be no parking on the south side to allow two lanes for eastbound traffic. Parking will be permitted on the north side and the westbound traffic will use one lane.
- There will always be parking allowed on at least one side of the road—even during rush hours.
