Street Closures in Effect Sunday and Monday for Rolling Thunder and Memorial Day Parade

Street Closures
Sunday May 27, 2007

Be advised that below is a list of road closures for the Rolling Thunder parade on May 27. Closures begin at 10:30 am with the parade concluding by 4 pm.

Motorists should avoid the area and strongly consider using public transportation to avoid delays.

Street closures will be the following:

  • Memorial Bridge
  • 23rd Street from Memorial Bridge to Constitution Avenue
  • Constitution Avenue to 3rd Street
  • 3rd street from Constitution Avenue to Independence Avenue
  • Independence Avenue from 3rd Street to Tidal Basin Drive
  • 14th and Independence Avenue, SW — No traffic allowed on Independence Avenue
  • Inbound 14th Street Bridge — No traffic north to 14th Street.  All traffic to SW Freeway
  • Inbound 14th Street bridge HOV — No traffic north to 14th Street.  All traffic to SW Freeway
  • 14th and C Street, SW — No traffic north bound
  • 12th and Independence Avenue, SW — No traffic onto route northbound ramp to tunnel blocked
  • 12th and C street, SW — No traffic northbound
  • Inbound 14th Street Bridge at 12th Street ramp — No traffic on ramp towards 12th Street
  • SW Freeway at Maine Avenue exit SW — No traffic on ramp when directed
  • 12 Street exit and SW Freeway — Cut traffic when directed
  • 12 Street and Maiden Lane, SW — No westbound traffic on Maine Avenue. Allow traffic south onto 14th Street Bridge
  • 50 yards east 12th and D Streets, SW — No traffic into 12th Street tunnel
  • L’Enfant Promenade Avenue and Independence Avenue, SW — No traffic onto Independence Avenue
  • 7th street ramp to (east) I-395 — Send all northbound traffic east on I-395
  • 9th and Independence Avenue, SW — No traffic onto route
  • 9th and C Street, SW — No traffic north
  • 7th and Maryland Avenue, SW — No traffic north  
  • 4th and Jefferson Drive, SW — No traffic south
  • Independence Avenue and Maryland Avenue, SW (east) — No traffic onto route
  • 7th and Jefferson Drive, SW — No traffic south
  • 4th and Madison Drive, SW — No traffic north
  • 3rd and C Street, NW — No traffic south
  • 4th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW — No traffic south
  • 6th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW — No traffic south on 6th
  • 6th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW — No traffic east on PA Avenue
  • 3rd and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW — No traffic west and no traffic south
  • Pennsylvania Avenue 7th and 9th Streets, NW — No traffic south
  • 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue — No traffic south
  • 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue — No traffic south
  • 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue — No traffic south
  • 14th and D Street, NW — No traffic south
  • 14th and Madison Drive, NW — No traffic north
  • 15th and E Street, NW — No traffic south
  • 17th and NY Avenue, NW — No traffic south
  • 17th at E and D Street, NW — No traffic south
  • 19th and VA Avenue, NW — No traffic south
  • 20th and 21st at C Street, NW — No traffic south
  • Inbound Theodore Roosevelt Bridge and E Street Split — Divert all traffic to E street

National Memorial Day Parade
Street Closures
Monday May 28, 2007

Be advised that below is a list of road closures for the Memorial Day parade on May 28.

Motorists should avoid the area and strongly consider using public transportation to avoid delays.

Street closures will be the following:

  • 7th Street (Closed from 8 am) — Between Constitution and Independence Avenues
  • Constitution Avenue (Closed at Noon) — Between 7th and 9th Streets
  • Virginia Avenue (Closed at 1:30 pm) — Between Constitution Avenue & 23rd Streets
  • Constitution Avenue (Closed at 1:45 pm) — Between 9th Avenue and 23rd Street
  • 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd Streets (Closed at 1:30 pm) — Between Virginia Avenue and E Street

All streets are scheduled to re-open by 5 pm.
