(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is pleased to announce it is set to begin streetscape upgrades and road work on 19th Street, NE, from Benning Road to Gales Street on Monday, June 18, 2007.

Work will include:

• Installation of new sidewalks, curbs and gutter restoration, and sealing of the existing joints in the roadway. 
• New asphalt and permanent line striping will also be installed.

Work is scheduled to take place from 7 am until 7 pm Monday through Saturday.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-July, weather permitting. During construction at least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained.

Curbside parking will not be permitted on this section of 19th Street NE during the duration of the project.
