DDOT Announces Bridge and Ramp Repairs on the Horizon

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004 or Karyn LeBlanc (202) 671-3490

(Washington, DC) Be advised that starting June Monday June 18, 2007 the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be making minor repairs and safety inspections to several bridge locations around the District.

DDOT will maintain traffic flow in both directions during most repair work. The sites where work will take place include:

  • Suitland Parkway under South Capitol Street — preliminary work for a scheduled deck repair will be conducted, starting Monday June 18 through Friday 22, 2007 (7:30 pm until 5:30 am). If additional time is needed then work will continue through Friday, June 29, 2007.

  • Case Memorial Bridge and all associated ramps will undergo joint repair starting Monday June 18 through Friday June 22, 2007 from (7:30 pm until 5:30 am) through Friday, July 13, 2007. Two crews will be working to allow DDOT to keep this schedule and minimize inconvenience to the traveling public. Single lane closures will be necessary in both directions.

  • I-66 Ramp to Whitehurst Freeway — A special inspection of this structure will require DDOT to temporarily close the ramps from 10 am until Noon on Tuesday, June 19, 2007. The detour for this area is from I-66/Potomac River Freeway, take left exit to Rock Creek Parkway, bear right at the yield sign (27th Street), and a left onto “K” Street to Whitehurst Freeway.

  • 14th Street Bridge — Northbound (inbound) over the Potomac River; Single lane closure will occur for a scheduled safety inspection on Wednesday June 20, 2007 from 9:45 am to 1:45 pm.
