DDOT Announces Weekend Events Affecting District Streets
Residents and Visitors Urged to Take Metrorail Instead of Driving

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises motorists that the below streets will be closed for events on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24. DDOT reminds residents and visitors to take public transportation into and around the District this weekend instead of driving.

Closed for the Safeway National Capital Barbecue Battle event from Friday at 8 pm through Sunday at 10 pm will be:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 9th to 14th streets, NW
  • 10th Street; Between Constitution and E Street NW
  • 11th Street; Between Pennsylvania Ave and E Street NW
  • 12th Street; Between Constitution Ave and E Street NW
  • 13th Street; Between Pennsylvania Ave and E Street NW

On June 23, the following streets will be closed from approximately 9:30 am to 4 pm for the DC Caribbean Carnival:

  • Georgia Avenue from Peabody St NW to Florida Ave NW

To include the following main streets crossing Georgia Avenue:

  • Missouri Avenue
  • Kennedy Street
  • Arkansas Avenue
  • Kansas Avenue
  • New Hampshire Avenue
  • Columbia Road
  • Kenyon Street
  • Harvard Street

Closed from approximately 9:30 am to 7:30 pm:

  • Barry Place from Georgia Avenue to Sherman Avenue
  • 9th Street from Barry Place to Euclid Street, NW

On Sunday June 24 the following streets will be closed from approximately 9:30 am to 7:30 pm:

  • Barry Place from Georgia Avenue to Sherman Avenue
  • 9th Street from Barry Place to Euclid Street NW
