(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises residents and motorists that roadway restoration is scheduled to commence on Florida Avenue, NW, between 9th Street and North Capitol Street. The work, weather permitting, is slated to begin on Monday, July 16, and continue until approximately mid-August. This final construction stage is a continuation of the great progress already made in this area, which thus far includes the installation of upgraded sidewalks, new bus pads, new curbs, and new historical street lamps.
The work on this phase will take place at night between the hours of 8 pm and 3 am (Monday–Friday) in order to minimize the impact on residents and motorists while also ensuring timely completion of the work. At all times during construction at least one lane in both directions will remain open for use. Access to the adjacent homes will also be maintained throughout the duration of the project—curbside parking may be limited during certain times.
This phase of the restoration will consist of the removal and subsequent re-milling and resurfacing of the asphalt roadway surface, as well as new permanent line striping and roadway signage. DDOT advises motorists to be safe and to stay alert while traversing the work zone.
