(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on the ramp from I-66/Potomac River Freeway to the Whitehurst Freeway, beginning Monday, August 13, 2007. Repair work on the ramp will be conducted in two phases.
Due to the nature of the work in both phases, it will be necessary to close the ramp to vehicular traffic during portions of the project.
During Phase 1 beginning Monday, August 13 and scheduled for completion Friday August 24th (weather permitting) the ramp will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
During the Phase II portion of the project it will be necessary to close the ramp on three separate occasions during September and October. On Friday, September 7th and Friday, September 21st the ramp will be closed at 7 am and will reopen to vehicular traffic at 3 pm, weather permitting. The third and final closure of this phase is scheduled from Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 5th.
The following detour plan has been established in order to aid travelers in getting to their destinations during ramp closures.
DETOUR: Motorist traveling from I-66/ Potomac Freeway should follow the posted detour signs to guide them through the detour:
- Make a left to exit onto Rock Creek Parkway
- Bear right at the yield sign on 27th Street, NW
- Turn left onto Whitehurst Freeway
