DDOT Announces Saturday Work on Kenilworth Avenue in Northeast

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises motorists traveling in and around the Kenilworth Avenue NE corridor to drive with caution this weekend due to ongoing work on Kenilworth over Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave, NE.

Work involves the reconstruction of Kenilworth Ave, NE from Foote Street to Lane Place, the bridges over Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue and Watts Branch Creek.

Work planned for this Saturday (August 18, 2007) includes work on the bridge deck and delivery of steel used for utility supports and the removal of the steel trusses around the area of the Southeast Service Road.

To ensure safety, the work will require the closing of the Southeast Service Road ramp exiting northbound Kenilworth Ave to Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave.

Construction will begin at or around 7 am and continue through Saturday afternoon at or around 2 pm, weather permitting.

DDOT reminds motorists to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
