DDOT Continues to Work on Improving Infrastructure in Ward 8
Work Launches Today on First Street, SE; Includes Resurfacing, Sidewalk Work

Media Contact: Erik Linden, 671-2004

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin to implement additional infrastructure improvements in Ward 8 today.

The work will take place in the 3800 and 3900 blocks of First Street, SE, between Wayne Place, SE, and Atlantic Street, SE.

Work will include the installation of new sidewalks and repairing of existing sidewalks, installing new curbs and roadway resurfacing.

DDOT will maintain traffic in one lane in each direction, Monday through Friday, during the morning rush hour (7 am to 9 am) and the evening rush hour (3:30 pm to 6:30 pm). A single lane will be maintained throughout the construction activity with flaggers directing traffic.

Weather permitting; the work is slated to be completed by October 20. Hours of work will be Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 6 pm.

DDOT encourages motorists to use extreme caution when passing through the work zone.
