(Washington, DC) As previously announced, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is continuing maintenance work on a Whitehurst Freeway ramp. The first phase of work on the Whitehurst Freeway northbound ramp off Potomac Freeway is completed.

Due to the nature of some of the work it is necessary to close the ramp to vehicular traffic during portions of Phase Two.

  • The ramp is scheduled to be closed from Monday, October 1 through Monday, October 8.
  • The ramp is scheduled to be closed from 7 am Monday, October 22 through 6 am Tuesday, October 23 resulting in an overnight closure.
  • The ramp is scheduled to be closed from November 5 through November 12.

The following detour plan has been established in order to aid travelers in getting to their destinations during ramp closures.

DETOUR: Motorists traveling from I-66/ Potomac Freeway should follow the posted detour signs to guide them through the detour:

  • Make a left to exit onto Rock Creek Parkway;
  • Bear right at the yield sign on 27th street, NW;
  • Turn left onto K Street and/or Whitehurst Freeway.
