Motorists Take Note of Multiple Weekend Events Closing District Streets

Event:   11th Annual Brookland Day Parade & Festival
Location:   3500 - 3700 block 12th Street, NE
Street Closed:   12th Street, NE between Monroe & Otis Streets
Time:   7:00 am to 7:00 pm

The Parade is scheduled to begin staging at 9:00am on the vacant lot on Franklin Street, NE between 10th & 12th Streets and step off at 11:00am. It is expected to be completed within 90 minutes.

The Festival will be held on 12th Street, NE between Monroe & Otis Streets from Noon to 5:00pm. Streets will close at 7:00am for Set-up and re-open after cleanup by 7:00pm.

The Parade route will be as follows:
From the starting point eastbound on Franklin Street, NE, then: East on Franklin Street to 12th Street, NE, thence: North on 12th Street, thru the festival site to the disbanding area between Quincy Street and Michigan Avenue.

Street closings will be as follows:
12th Street, NE between Monroe & Otis Streets (7:00am to 7:00pm)
Franklin Street, NE between 10th & 12th Streets   (10:45am to 11:15am - for parade only)
12th Street, NE between Franklin Street
   & Michigan Avenue
  (10:45am to 12:30pm - for parade only)

Street crossing the parade route will be closed and re-opened as the march proceeds.
Note: When parade activity closes 12th Street at Michigan Avenue, buses will use Michigan Avenue in both directions.
