DDOT Announces Weekend Work on Douglass Bridge

Media Contact: Erik Linden @ DDOT, 202-671-2004

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is continuing its work this weekend on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge (South Capitol Street Bridge), weather permitting.

Work does not involve a full closure in either direction. However, motorists should expect the below lane closures:

  • Two inbound lanes on the bridge will be closed to traffic from 7 am on Saturday, November 17 until 5 pm on Sunday, November 18.
  • One outbound lane on the bridge will be closed to traffic from 7 am to 5 pm on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18.

Also, pedestrian and bicycle traffic flow will now take place on the inbound sidewalks. All repairs will now focus on the outbound sidewalks until both inbound and outbound sidewalk work is completed by early 2008.
