(Washington, D.C.) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to close the northbound curb lane between Devonshire Place and Macomb Street from February 9, 2008 to February 15, 2008. The closure is necessary in order for crews to continue the repainting of the metal railings on the east side of the bridge. The following lane configurations will be in effect.
- During non-rush hours three (3) southbound lanes and two (2)
northbound lanes will be maintained
- During morning rush hours four (4) southbound and 1 north bound
lanes will be maintained
- During evening rush hours three (3) northbound and two (2)
southbound lanes will be maintained
Background: The $9 million restoration of the Connecticut Avenue Bridge, which is proceeding on schedule, uses a combination of federal and local funds.
Weather permitting the project is slated to be completed in April 2008. DDOT will continue to update the public on the progress of the project. Hours of work are Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm. DDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when passing through the work zone.
The average daily traffic count on the bridge is 38,000 vehicles, northbound and southbound combined.
