Street Closings and Parking Restrictions for the National Cherry Blossom Parade and Japanese Street Festival

On Saturday, April 12, 2008, special parking restrictions and street closings will be in effect for the National Cherry Blossom Parade and Japanese Street Festival in downtown Washington.

NATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM PARADE

From 6 am until 3 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2008, street closures and parking restrictions will be in effect at the following locations:

  • 7th Street between Independence Avenue, SW and Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Constitution Avenue between 6th Street and 23rd Street, NW
  • 17th Street between Independence Avenue, SW and E Street, NW
  • 14th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and Independence Avenue, SW
  • 15th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and Independence Avenue, SW

The following street will also be closed between 9 am and 4 pm for staging:

18th Street between Constitution Avenue and D Street, NW

JAPANESE STREET FESTIVAL

From midnight on Friday, April 11, 2008, until 9 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2008, street closures and parking restrictions will be in effect at the following locations:

  • 12th Street between Constitution Avenue and E Street, NW
  • Pennsylvania Avenue between 10th Street and 14th Street, NW

Motorists should be advised that they may encounter unexpected delays if traveling in the area of these events. Street closings can also be subject to change without prior notice due to prevailing conditions. MPD wishes to take this opportunity to thank the public for their cooperation and understanding in this matter.
