(Washington, DC) The following road closures will be in effect Sunday, May 25th for the annual Rolling Thunder event that is part of the Memorial Day weekend tributes commemorating US men and women who have died in military service to their country.
The event is scheduled to begin at 12 pm and to be completed around 3 pm. Most road closures will be rolling closures and roads will reopen as the procession moves through the route.
The procession* will begin from the Pentagon parking lot and travel north on Washington Boulevard (Route 27), to east on Memorial Bridge, north on 23rd Street NW, east on Constitution Avenue NW, east on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, south on 3rd Street NW to SW, west on Independence Avenue SW, cross over to 14th Street SW continuing west, south on West Basin Drive SW, west on Ohio Drive SW, and park in the West Potomac Ball Fields and Reception areas.
Additional temporary closures may include the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, Constitution Avenue and 19th, 20th and 21st Streets to Constitution Avenue from Virginia Avenue.
