Media Contact:  Karyn Le Blanc at (202) 671-3490

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to begin roadwork on Canal Road between Arizona Avenue and Foxhall Road in northwest (see map*) on Monday, June 2, 2008. Crews are scheduled to work nightly from 7 pm to 5 am with the road reopening in time for the daily morning rush hour. The project is expected to take two weeks finishing on Friday, June 13th, weather permitting.

The work will involve the milling and repaving of the roadway and upgrading of pavement markings where necessary. Variable Message Signs (VMS) alerting motorists to detours and road closures will be in place. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes during work hours.

Detour signage will be posted. East bound traffic will be diverted onto MacArthur Boulevard via Arizona Avenue and back to Canal Road at Foxhall Road during work hours. West bound traffic will be rerouted to MacArthur Boulevard via Foxhall Road to Arizona Avenue.
