District Responds to Evening Ramp Closures and Traffic Signal Outages

Media Contact:  Karyn Le Blanc at (202) 671-3490 or (202) 497-4572, cell

(Washington, DC) Yesterday's afternoon storms have resulted in fallen trees and traffic signal outages. DDOT has redeployed Traffic Control Officers (TCOs) to darkened intersections and Road Operations Patrols are canvassing the area and responding to incidents in an effort to clear any accidents or broken down vehicles quickly.

DDOT crews and contractors are responding to signals that are out in order to get them back on line as soon as possible. Some signals along South Capitol, SE are in flash. The traffic signals at Pennsylvania and Branch, SE are currently dark. Generators have been deployed and are being set up in order to bring this traffic signal back on line. Please treat darkened intersections as a four way stop.

There is a fallen tree at the 7th Street ramp off of I-395 south and traffic is down to one lane. Minor delays are expected. DDOT Urban Forestry Administration crews are en route.

Residents are reminded to call 311 to report any downed trees, limbs or branches.
