WASHINGTON, DC — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to begin repairs to the ramp leading from the E Street Expressway to I-66 West on Monday August 4, 2008, weather permitting. The repairs are expected to take approximately three weeks to complete with the ramp anticipated to reopen by Monday, August 25th. The single lane ramp will have to be closed in order to maintain a safe environment during construction.
Work includes repairs to the abutment back wall, bridge joints and overlaying of the deck. All joints will be fully replaced and the deck itself will be re-conditioned with a concrete overlay.
DDOT’s maintenance of traffic plan will relocate traffic as follows:
Motorist approaching the ramp will be directed to the Potomac River Freeway North, then left onto 27th Street, NW, then an immediate left onto Potomac River Freeway South, and then onto I-66 West.
DDOT encourages all motorists to stay alert when traveling through work zones.
