Bridges and Some Roadways Reopen After Inauguration

The District has reopened all the District bridges that were closed today for the Presidential Inauguration including Key, Theodore Roosevelt, Memorial, 14th Street, Frederick Douglass (South Capitol) and the 11th Street Bridges. The 3rd Street Tunnel has resumed normal service and is reopened to vehicles only. Pedestrians are no longer allowed in the 3rd Street Tunnel.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) are also starting to reopen closed or restricted areas, however, some road closures will remain in effect and new closures may occur as the inaugural balls begin. Residents and visitors are encouraged to use Metro. Motorists are cautioned to be aware of possible detours or alternate routes and to allow for extra time to get to their destination.
