The District Department of Transportation reports that North Capitol Street at Rhode Island Avenue is closed due to a house fire.  DDOT has deployed its Road Operations Patrol (ROP) to assist with traffic control.  Southbound North Capitol Street is blocked from Michigan to Rhode Island Avenues and northbound is blocked from Randolph Street to Rhode Island Avenue.  Motorists are asked to please detour or use alternate routes such as Georgia Avenue, Michigan Avenue or Irving Street to the north and Georgia Avenue, Florida Avenue and U Streets to the south.
 
North Capitol is also closed between R and North Michigan due to a separate incident.  Please avoid using North Capitol at this time.
