The District Department of Transportation will close 7th Street, SE between North Carolina Avenue and C Street beginning Monday, March 9, 2009 as part of the ongoing Eastern Market Streetscape Rehabilitation Project.

DDOT is working closely with the local ANC, business owners and the Eastern Market Community Advisory Committee (EMCAC) in order to minimize impact to the community during the ongoing work.

The scope of work includes:

• Total removal of the existing roadway on 7th Street SE between North Carolina Avenue and C Street.
  
  
• Installation and upgrade of the roadway bed, installation of 3 1/8 inches Colonial Cobble, stamped concrete at crosswalks, brick sidewalks, granite curbing, new lighting and certain utility upgrades.
