(Washington, DC)  The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to replace the bridge deck on I-295 (Kenilworth Avenue) at Burroughs Ave, NE this weekend. Work is scheduled to begin at 11am on Saturday, May 16th with paving anticipated to be completed by 5am, Monday, May 18th. Due to the nature of the work temporary lane closures will be necessary. Traffic will be restricted to two lanes northbound and two lanes southbound throughout the paving project. All on- and off-ramps will be open.

Traffic delays and back-ups are anticipated until the pavement work is completed, and motorists are advised to consider alternate routes.

Alternate routes to I-495 (Beltway) and beyond include:

• I-395 to 50 East (New York Avenue)
• Whitney Young Memorial Bridge/East Capitol Street/Central Avenue
• Sousa Bridge/Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast
