(Washington, DC) Beginning on or about June 1, 2009, weather permitting, parking restrictions and temporary lane closures will be in effect in and around the intersection of 7th and H Streets, NW due to scheduled work on the Chinatown Arch. Parking restrictions will be posted in advance and work zone safety controls will be used including Variable Message Signs, arrow boards and safety barriers.
The majority of the work is anticipated to take place between the hours of 9 pm and 5 am. The project is scheduled to take approximately eight weeks, weather permitting.
The restoration project will be contained to the area immediately adjacent to the arch and DDOT has taken steps to ensure that local businesses and commuters will receive minimal impact. Access to all retail stores will be available at all times during the project. Metro will operate its normal schedule, however, changes may occur for the P6, X2, and 80 routes. Riders of these routes are encouraged to check with WMATA for periodic updates.
