UPDATE: Sinkhole on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) have reopened Pennsylvania Avenue, NW for eastbound traffic. Two lanes are now open for inbound traffic between 28th and 26th Streets. Westbound traffic is currently being detoured on the following route: right on 26th Street, left on M Street and back to Pennsylvania Avenue.

DDOT crews are on the scene and are working to fill and plate the sinkhole in the roadway until permanent repairs can be completed.
