(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to close a small section of M Street, SE and the 12th Street ramp from I-295 North over the next two weekends for the demolition of two overhead access ramps for RFK Stadium. DDOT is in the process of demolishing the rarely used ramps in conjunction with the replacement of the 11th Street Bridges.
M Street, SE, between 11th and 12th Streets, and the 12th Street ramp (also known as the M Street /Washington Navy Yard Ramp) from I-295 North, will be closed on the following dates and times:
- From 6:30 pm on July 17 to 6:30 am to July 20
- From 6:30 pm on July 24 to 630 am at July 27
Throughout this work there will still be access to the marinas and boat houses on Water Street, SE, and marked detours (shown on the attached maps*) will guide motorists around the closures.
Map 1* shows how vehicles on I-295 North will be directed to get to 11th Street, SE.
Map 2* shows where a temporary road will be built to ensure there is access to I-295 from Water Street or M Street, east of 12th Street.
Map 3* shows the detour for drivers who want to go north on I-295.
Residents who have questions about these closures can call Joe Dorsey at (202) 671-4608 or E.J. Simie at (202) 671-4589.
