Off-Peak Lane Closures on Anacostia Freeway
Work is Part of 11th Street Bridge Project

Eleventh Street Bridge ProjectMedia Contact: John Lisle (DDOT) at (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC) As part of the 11th Street Bridge Project, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close one lane in each direction on the Anacostia Freeway (DC 295/I-295), during off-peak hours, from Monday, January 25 through Friday, February 12.

The closures will occur between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm daily, and again from 7:30 pm to 5:30 am each night, between Pennsylvania Avenue and Howard Road.

During these lane closures, contractors will prepare to demolish a pedestrian bridge that crosses above the highway.  The pedestrian bridge must be removed to allow for the construction of ramps for the new 11th Street bridges.  A new pedestrian bridge is to be built and open to pedestrians in the same location by Memorial Day Weekend 2010.

For more information about this work or the 11th Street Bridge Project, please contact Public Information Manager Bryon Johnston at (202) 484-2330, ext. 137 or visit theanacostiawaterfront.com/11thstreet.
