Making Work Pay

As part of his Reform Plan for improving disability services in the District, Mayor Fenty challenged DDS to identify and support at least 25 individuals who once lived at Forest Haven to become employed. Over the past six months, 45 people with intellectual disabilities have begun to work for minimum wage or better in a variety of jobs in the District and the region. DDS is proud of the hard work of these individuals and looks forward to applying the lessons learned from this pilot to making work pay in the lives of other people with disabilities.

2008 DDS Performance Plan:
Performance planning is the foundation for how we operate and evaluate our government. For FY 2008, the City Administrator asked each city agency to develop a performance plan which describes new initiatives that improve the quality of their services and meaningfully gauge their progress against goals.
