The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) releases its Fiscal Year 2006 Fourth Quarter and Annual Report for the Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF). This report provides a synopsis of the department's activities relating to the Trust Fund for FY 2006.
Trust fund dollars are used to fund affordable housing units for low-income District residents, including residents who earn 0-80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). DC law states that 40 percent of HPTF dollars must be used to benefit households 0-30 percent of AMI, 40 percent must be used to benefit households 31-50% of AMI, and 20 percent to benefit households 51-80 percent of AMI. The department used HPTF dollars to fund nearly 1,500 units of affordable housing, more than a 300 percent increase over FY 2005. The Trust Fund is an important source of funding for the benefit of low-income residents.
