Madeline Gardens Condominiums, an affordable homeownership housing project in the Trinidad/Ivy City Neighborhood of Ward 5, held its Grand Opening this winter. DHCD assisted Manna, Inc. with both property acquisition and financing to help bring this opportunity to low-income residents of the District.
Madeline Gardens will provide 30 units of housing, half of which will be affordable to residents below 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) and half affordable to residents under 80% AMI. Of these units, four will be fully handicapped accessible. In addition, the project will have community space that will be available to all residents.
One building of this 3-building property is complete, and the remaining two are under construction. This property was acquired from the Department’s Homestead Program. DHCD also provided more than $1 million in financing for the project.
Madeline Gardens is named for Madeline McCullough, a distinguished community leader and former director of DHCD.
