Victor L. Selman has been appointed Interim Director of the Department of Housing and Community Development. Selman has been with DHCD for more than 10 years, serving most recently as the Department’s Chief Operations Officer. Selman has nearly 25 years of District Government experience.
“I am pleased for the opportunity to lead this Department and continue the extraordinary efforts of this staff in preserving affordable housing, increasing homeownership opportunities, and supporting community revitalization,” said Selman.
Mr. Selman enters the Interim Director role well-prepared to lead the Department. He has worked closely with fellow District agencies, non-profit and for-profit developers, lenders and community-based organizations to further the preservation of affordable housing and the growth of economic opportunities. During his tenure with the District, he has helped establish Community Development Corporations, has played an integral role in the implementation of several innovative housing initiatives, and underwritten and closed countless projects.
Mr. Selman graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with a Bachelors in Finance/Economics and has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School.
