(Washington, DC) - The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) announced today the availability of grant funding for District of Columbia non-profit organizations to support several existing Department housing programs and initiatives.
Director Leila Finucane Edmonds said DHCD is seeking to fund community partners who can assist the Department by: (1) preparing first-time homebuyer households for the challenges of homeownership (pre-purchase and post-purchase counseling); (2) providing services to individual tenant households and tenant groups; and by (3) offering services to homeowner associations in cooperatives and condominiums that will help them to manage and to maintain their multifamily properties.
“We fully support and will continue to maintain programs that preserve affordable housing and prevent displacement of tenants and promote and preserve homeownership,” Edmonds said. “We’re working within a constrained federal and local fiscal environment and so improving the efficiency of service among our housing counseling and training programs is critical. We’re looking to the non-profit community to actualize efficiencies in its provision of the same services.”
