(Washington, DC) - DCHousingSearch.org, the District's online housing locator service is available free of charge to individuals and property owners/managers. Individuals can browse up-to-date, detailed listings to find available affordable and Section 8 rental and for sale properties that meet their housing needs. Property managers and landlords can use the service to list available units and showcase features including number of bedrooms and baths; rent and deposit information; location (with map link); special amenities; and accessibility for people with disabilities.
Also at DCHousingSearch.org, individuals can connect people to other housing resources through website links and provides helpful tools for renters such as an affordability calculator, rental checklist, and renter rights and responsibilities information.
DCHousingSearch.org is funded through the Department of Housing and Community Development. The mission of the DHCD is to create and preserve opportunities for affordable housing and economic development and to revitalize under-served communities in the District of Columbia. DHCD fulfills its mission by providing gap financing; increasing first-time homeownership opportunities; providing funding to rehabilitate single-family and multi-family homes; supporting communities through neighborhood based activities; providing funding for homelessness prevention; addressing vacant and abandoned properties; and overseeing the administration of rental housing laws.
All the affordable housing development projects DHCD has funded will be required to list available units on DCHousingSearch.org. The DC Housing Authority will also list all of their developments, and managed developments, on this site. Further, all landlords, regardless of public subsidy are invited to list their affordable units on this site free of charge.
