(Washington, DC) – The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will hold a “Nuts and Bolts of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)” training seminar on Thursday, October 26 at 6:30 pm. This training seminar is designed to inform residents, Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners, community groups and other stakeholders about the CDBG funding process.
By definition, the primary statutory objective of the Federal CDBG program is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income. The training sessionis designed to provide insight into the process and how DHCD leverages CDBG funding to support initiatives in the District.
“The Department is committed to providing training opportunities for our residents,” said Victor Selman, Chief Operating Officer. “Sessions such as this CDBG training seminar are one of the ways we ensure that District residents are informed about our internal processes. We want residents to understand how they can take advantage to the opportunities that the Department provides.”
The session will be held in the 9th Floor Boardroom at DHCD’s headquarters, located at 801 North Capitol Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002.
