Public Hearing to be Held on the Draft Comprehensive Physical Access Plan for Accessibility of the District’s Homeless Shelters Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990

The Government of the District of Columbia, Department of Human Services, Family Services Administration (FSA), in coordination with the Office of Property Management (OPM) and the Office of Disability Rights (ODR), prepared a draft Comprehensive Physical Access Plan in accordance with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement (DJ #204-16-96), effective December 10, 2008. The plan addresses accessibility of the District’s Homeless Shelter Program to individuals with disabilities under Title II of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. 

DHS/FSA will hold a public hearing to discuss the Comprehensive Physical Access Plan and to seek public comments and suggestions. Those interested in testifying will have three (3) minutes to make a statement. In order to sign up to testify at the hearing, the individuals should provide their full name by contacting DHS email or by telephone at (202) 671-4339.  

The public hearing will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 from10 am to noon at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library located at 901 G Street, NW in the Auditorium, Room A-5. The library may be reached by way of the Gallery Place/China Town Metro Stop on the Red Line.
